Description

Javelin Black Ice

Unlike conventional spray on ski wax, Javelin Black Ice is a revolutionary spray-on ski and snowboard coating designed to lower friction in very cold conditions. At low temperature, many fluorocarbon based products stop working. Javelin Black Ice begins to work when other products begin to fail. Use only in very dry cold conditions of -10C and lower. Javelin Black Ice can be applied directly onto a clean base or over your existing coating Javelin Vibe or Javelin Diamond. Apply directly to the base with a non-absorbent cloth, or when you find yourself in rapidly dropping temperatures, apply over your existing coating.

Javelin Black Ice can be easily removed with Javelin Strip coating remover.

Javelin Performance Coatings are developed for Ski and Snowboard to reduce friction from wet slush conditions to extreme cold hard pack. While most Javelin products function over a wide range of temperatures, Javelin Black Ice is a radical formulation specifically formulated to combat friction under the coldest of conditions. Cold dry snow lacks the layer of water between crystals that provide lubrication between the sliding crystals. A good indicator of dry cold conditions is the sound of  snow crunching underfoot, when you are actually hearing the ice crystals fracture as there is no longer a water layer to allow the crystals to slide against each other. Javelin Black Ice compensates for this lubrication found in warmer wetter snow.

Javelin Black Ice should be removed if conditions do not meet the cold and dry environment. Strip using Javelin Strip and replace with other Javelin Performance Coating products.

The javelin black ice is awesome! I sprayed it over top of my vibe green in -30 weather and the skis were fast and did not stick or squeak from the cold. I highly recommend to add an extra layer for bitter cold dry temperatures.

FAQs
Q: <p class="p1"><strong>What's the difference between Javelin Vibe and Javelin Diamond?</strong></p>
— Asked on February 15, 2015
A: Javelin Vibe and Diamond each have excellent glide characteristics. Either are applicable for park, pipe, slope-style, skier-cross or alpine race for ski or snowboard. We recommend Javelin Vibe for fresh snow conditions. Javelin Diamond for "dirty" or contaminated snow. Snow can become dirty or contaminated by diesel fumes from snow grooming equipment, contaminants injected by snow guns, the application of salt, fertilizer or other compounds to harder snow.

Q: <p class="p1"><b>What is "Javelin Juice" when and why should I use it?  </b></p>
— Asked on February 23, 2015
A: As a ski passes over snow, it creates a thin layer of water which allows the ski to glide more easily. Javelin Juice allows the ski to perform under a wider range of water content within the snow. During rapidly changing temperature conditions, Juice can be easily applied over your existing coating.

Q: <p class="p1"><b>Can "Javelin Juice" be applied while on the hill?</b></p>
— Asked on February 23, 2015
A: Yes it may be applied in cold conditions. Always shake the bottle well before application. Javelin Juice can be spread using any non absorbent cloth, such as nylon, leather or even plastic in a pinch.

Q: <p class="p1"><b>What is Javelin Black Ice?</b></p>
— Asked on February 23, 2015
A: Javelin Black Ice is a coating specifically to be used under cold/dry conditions. In cold/dry conditions, not enough water is available within the crystal structure of the snow to allow good glide. Black Ice reduces friction in this environment and allows the ski to glide more freely.

Q: <p class="p1"><b> Do I really need to buy strip or can I just use my existing product?</b></p>
— Asked on February 23, 2015
A: We recommend the use of Javelin Strip for correct and maximum removal of Javelin Coatings.

Q: <p class="p1"><b>What about storage instructions?</b></p>
— Asked on February 23, 2015
A: Keep all products away from heat sources and store at room temperature. Keep coatings clean in a sealed bag or container. Ensure that the cap of Black Ice and Juice are thoroughly tightened.

Q: Do you have a Ski Wax Chart that I can carry?
— Asked on February 23, 2015
A: Yes - similar to a "Ski Wax Chart" but simpler to use is our Coatings Application Chart available from <a href="http://javelinsport.com/download/javelin-alpine-ski-product-use-temperature-chart-5x7/" title="Javelin Alpine Ski Product Use Temperature Chart 5″x7″" rel="nofollow">here as a 5"x7"</a> .pdf download which you can print.
